Police files charge-sheet against five in Handwara | KNO

Handwara, Mar 26 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday filed charge-sheet against five individuals including three militants and two civilians from Langate area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. According to wire service- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official said that charge sheet was filed in militant attack at Babagund Langate.

An official told—KNO that the charge sheet in respect of case under FIR number 34/2019 of Police Station Kralgund was filed. He said that a FIR pertains to the incident dated 27.05.2019, wherein militants holding weapons had fired upon a civilian namely Abdul Majeed Shah of Village Babagund, Langate  resulting in critical injuries who later succumbed.

After conclusion of investigation, the charge-sheet has been filed before the competent Court by Handwara Police under section 34,109,121,302 RPC, 7/25, 7/27 Indian Arms Act 13,16,18,19,20,38 UA(P) Act and substantive offences thereof subsequent to obtaining necessary Government sanction for prosecution under UA(P)Act, the official said.

The Charge-sheet has been filed against five accused including three militants identified as Sajad Ahmad Mir@ Haider of Brath Sopore, Naseer Ahmad Mir @Talha of Brath Kalan Sopore,  Asif Ahmad War @Jaffar of Warpora Sopore and two Over Ground Workers (OGW) of militant  organization, identified as Aquib Javid Bhat, son of Javid Ahmad Bhat of Village Babagund Langate and Feroz Ahmad Dar, son of Mohiuddin Dar of Village Khanoo Langate for their role in hatching criminal conspiracy for the militant act and harbouring militants and giving support to the militant outfit—(KNO)
